Orientation Leader Training and Residence Don Training:
These workshops are designed to help new orientation leaders and Residence Dons develop an awareness and ability to keep new first year U of T students safe. Topics covered include dealing and managing difficult behaviour, safety awareness, and safety resources. Orientation and Residence Life Co-ordinators arrange workshops by contacting The Community Safety Office.
Dealing with Difficult Behavior, including Angry and Hostile Individuals:
This workshop can be taught to front-line staff team at the University of Toronto. The workshop will discuss how to identify early warning signs of a potentially hostile and aggressive individual. You will learn non-verbal and verbal techniques to manage disruptive behavior in order to prevent verbal aggression from becoming physical.
Stalking/Criminal Harassment and On-line Harassment:
This workshop defines stalking/criminal harassment; provides information about the various types of stalking behavior; and, explores the various ways stalking can occur. Potential safety risks, recommendations for safety planning, ideas about how to provide support to someone who is being stalked, and prevention tips are also discussed.
